The 131st winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 26th April 1939 over the Rowley Mile, was Blue Peter (5/1), a bay colt by Fairway out of Fancy Free, owned by the 6th Earl of Rosebery. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 1 minute 39.40 secs, with 3/4 length back in third. A field of 25 runners contested the race which was worth £7500 (Equivalent to £462,800 in 2017)
